of ephemeral measure is a visual art project by Martina O’Brien based on a set of digital wild-sensing cameras, installed at twelve different outdoor locations across Co. Kildare and one in Aalto University, Finland. Among other outcomes, the project to date has established the first phenological network–artist-led or otherwise–in Co. Kildare, and the artist has hosted a number of on-site ‘walkshops’ across the county. Sites under observation in Ireland include agricultural sites, research bogs, forest plantation, a wooded carpark, a garden, a river edge and a previously monitored Phenological Garden which was studied by Ireland's National Phenology Network as part of the EPA's Climate Change Research Programme (2007-2013). Site Thirteen, in Finland, is operated in collaboration with the artist group Open Forest Collective.
